Why Pilates Reformer

Pilates Reformer emphasizes mindful alignment, breath awareness, and deep core connection. Through controlled, precise movement, it builds functional strength, improves posture and balance, and supports long-term joint health. This method is designed to develop resilience and sustainable movement at every age and fitness level.

Joseph Pilates famously said, “In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 you will see the difference, and in 30 you will have a whole new body.” At Longfellow, our goal is steady, thoughtful progress that supports lasting results.

New to Pilates Reformer?

We recommend beginning with our Intro to Reformer package, which includes four private 45-minute sessions and three group classes. During your private sessions, you will:

  • Learn the foundational principles of Pilates Reformer
  • Become familiar with the essential repertoire
  • Receive individualized modifications based on your body and goals

This preparation allows you to transition into group classes with confidence and clarity.

Purchase Intro to Reformer Package

You may also register directly for available group classes if you have prior experience.

Movement Assessment with a Master Trainer

Our Movement Assessment is a one-on-one session grounded in STOTT PILATES® principles and modern movement science. During this session, a Master Trainer will conduct both static and dynamic analyses to establish potential weak links and then use that information to retrain the body to move in the most stable, efficient way possible. Following the assessment, you will receive recommendations for class placement, private training, or a customized path forward.

Class Options

All-Levels Reformer

Designed for both new and experienced students. Instructors provide modifications and progressions to create a balanced, full-body workout using the Reformer and, at Lumina, the Tower.

Intermediate Reformer

Appropriate for students who have a clear understanding of Reformer fundamentals and the strength, endurance, and coordination required for a more advanced format.

Jumpboard

A dynamic Reformer class that incorporates low-impact cardio using the Jumpboard. This format blends the structure of Pilates Reformer with rhythmic movement to build endurance and bone strength.

Pilates Essentials

An entry-level Reformer class recommended for those new to the equipment or returning after time away. This class focuses on foundational movements while providing a complete workout.

Private Training

Private Pilates Reformer training offers a more individualized experience than group sessions. Your instructor will design sessions tailored to your specific goals, movement patterns, and schedule. Private training is appropriate for those seeking focused progression, post-rehabilitation support, or personalized attention.
